Alan G. Walker, Ph.D.
Background:
Dr. Alan G. Walker has over thirty-five years of progressively responsible teaching, administrative, and leadership experience in postsecondary education. He has held the positions of Instructor, Curriculum and Program Developer, Director of several university programs and institutes with statewide program delivery missions, Vice Provost, Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Assistant to the President, and President at two Universities for a combined twelve years.
Alan has adapted principles from his early career associated with the municipal fire service and applies them to a higher education context, bringing speed, focus, and a commitment to mission. He has an excellent track record of achieving strategic goals and objectives that position organizations for success in an increasingly competitive, global, and dynamically changing environment. Skilled at building high-achieving teams; developing, resourcing, implementing, and evaluating effective strategic plans; and being constituency centered, he maintains a passion for changing lives, growing organizations, and the continuous pursuit of excellence.
Personal & Educational:
Alan holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Policy Administration from the University of Kansas; and both a M.Ed. in Vocational/Adult Education and a B.S. in Trade and Industrial Technical Education from the University of Idaho, as well as an Associate of Science degree in Fire Science from the College of Southern Idaho. Alan is a graduate of the National Fire Academy's Executive Fire Officer Program and has been a certified fire fighter and fire service instructor.
