When I left the C-Suite three years ago, it was clear then that the status quo was simply not sustainable for most colleges and universities. The nature of the change and dimensions of the challenges we face today demand a significant level of reinvention if most institutions are to overcome structural impediments to success, let alone provide a value proposition that most students will choose. As such, I founded the TC with the intention of supporting transformational change for those schools that are willing, even if unable by themselves, to undertake the huge commitment of reinvention. From a personal perspective, I also aspire to serving others such that people who associate with me are better off for that association and that the world, in at least some small way, is better off for my efforts.

Background

I began my professional career over 35 years ago as a schoolteacher, working primarily with at-risk students, then shifting into higher education and the private sector. I’ve been very fortunate to have lived in five countries outside the U.S. and traveled to nearly 40. That has provided a much broader perspective than I could possibly have had otherwise. One takeaway from that is that humanity is more diverse and more amazing than most of us realize—and there are many ways of being and believing that are equally valid.

Personal/Educational

I am currently in the midst of major life and career change and am grateful that is possible. Three college degrees were apparently not enough and despite having a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Hispanic Literature, a Master’s degree in Human Services and Human Resource Education, and a Ph.D. in Education, I am now pursuing another Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health, through which I will be able to add clinical counseling to my professional practice.
